LEFTOVERS

8x8 Oil on Gessobord

Part of the fun of painting still lifes is hunting for those things that would be good to paint. I found this child's chair with old red paint and bits and pieces of green paint showing through. What a find! I know I'll be using it again and again. I had some tomatoes and decided to paint them on the chair. The title came from leftover tomatoes and an old leftover chair.

  1. I love this, Linda! The composition is just great! Love those vertical lines of the back of the chair and the large mass of the seat. Very nice that it's off the left side of the canvas, and love how the corner of the plate is slightly over the edge of the right side of the seat.

    Love the colors, too!

  3. Love the tomatoes! Looks like a lot of us have been painting tomatoes lately! I like how you just included part of the chair in this one. It really makes for an interesting composition and the tomato shadows are just perfect too! I know just what you mean about taking a break. I have not really recovered from my trip to AZ yet and have not even tried to paint this week! I am sure I will be a little rusty when I finally do!
