APPLE CHALLENGE

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Click HERE to bid on this painting.
Daily Paintworks always provides a good challenge each week.  I always want to participate in each and every one, but that seems impossible for me.  However, this week I took on the challenge and painted this apple.  It was really fun!  To learn more about Daily Paintworks and their challenges click HERE.  To view my gallery click on the widget located on the side bar.
And just in case you are stressed, instead of eating an apple ..........

KIT "THE REBEL" HEFNER

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

"Kit “The Rebel” Hefner does things her own way...follows her own path...beats to the beat of a different drummer.  Kit hit town and immediately started shaking things up.  She shoots where no one else shoots...she paints what no one else paints...she is a true rebel.  If you think you know where Kit is or what she is thinking...you are wrong...If you think you know where she is...you don’t...AND if you think you can figure her out...well...you guessed it...

GALLERY NIGHT IN FORT WORTH & SOLD!

This is Doug Clark, my friend and artist, giving a demo of his sculpture at Artspace 111 on Gallery Night.  I think he looks great in his hat!  To see more of his work click HERE.
Gallery Night is always fun and this year was especially nice, because I sold a painting.  Always good to hit a home run once in a while! :-)

DIANE HOWARD 2

With the help of friends  I made a few changes in Diane's mug.  I think the critique I was given was right on.  So, here is the improved Diane.

JUDY "FASHIONISTA" ELIAS

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

"Judy “Fashionista” Elias is a petite blonde.  She looks harmless enough, but with camera in hand she can be as devious as any member of the Hilton Head Gang.  Her petite stature allows her to sneak into venues with seemingly childlike innocence...but don’t let that fool you.  She enters, shoots then escapes before she is discovered.  She is often enveloped in large decorative scarves that disguise her camera to make it easy for her to focus on unsuspecting victims...then she shoots and is out of sight before she is detected.

ROAD TO BIG BEND

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Click HERE to bid on this painting.

Finally posting again after two trips.  Our first trip was to Big Bend National Park in west Texas.  We had a really wonderful time!  The weather was perfect for hiking and when not hiking I took lots of photographs and did a few sketches.  We saw deer, lots of birds and butterflies, and a family of javelinas.  The nights were clear and thousands of stars hung in the sky.  It was all amazing and brought forth gratitude for such remarkable nature.

Our second trip was to Portland, Oregon.  We didn't have much time there, but just enough to know that we would like to go back and explore more of Portland and Oregon in general. I haven't loaded my photographs yet, but I have high hopes they will be good.

DIANE "THE FLASH" HOWARD

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

Week 16 finds us looking for the next member of the Hilton Head Gang...Karin Jurick’s motley crew of wayward artists...still evading capture.
Diane “The Flash” Howard so named because she doesn’t use one. she purposely turns off her flash to get the proper shadows, lights and darks on her subject. What she cannot accomplish with the camera she adjusts with her palette. She is a master of color manipulation and can mask any subject to make them seem anonymous...she remains anonymous also...and uses the darkness to escape the authorities.

HORSE ONE

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Click HERE to bid on this painting.
I painted this for the Daily Paintworks challenge.  Carol Marine provided the photograph.  I wanted to simplify as much as I could and I think I succeeded.  Take a look at this week's entries for some great paintings.

FACE No. 59

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
I had to get ALL her hair in this small format.  It made painting her difficult, because of her small image.  I can't imagine I will do this again.  Just have to cut off some of the hair!!

SHERYL "RED" LOTT

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
The following is, as usual, written by Maria Hock!
Week 15 and the saga continues.  The HIlton Head Gang from Karin Jurick’s workshop...now notoriously famous...is still on the lam.  This week we feature one of the more elusive members.
Sheryl “Red” Lott with her fiery red hair and syrupy southern accent immediately disarms her victims.  She sashays into venues or onto the beach oozing that southern charm that lulls her victims into a false sense of security.  She is no less dangerous than the rest of the gang...she just looks harmless.  Her stash of covertly taken photographs is testament to her devious nature.  How she can remain anonymous with her blazing red locks we will never know.  Don’t let her demure southern behavior fool you...be on the lookout!
