VALUES, VALUES, VALUES

I ordered this value and color system from Peggi Kroll Roberts.  I've only had a chance to play with it a short time, but I love it!  My goal this summer is to study basics and I want to begin with values.  Peggi has a wonderful DVD that comes with this system and I also have several of her other DVDs.  Carol Marine is another artist that stresses values.  She has an ArtByte tutorial on values if you are interested.  Both of these artists are remarkable teachers as well as accomplished artists with amazing work under their belts.

This is my first attempt at using these wonderful blocks and sphere.  They are white, gray and black.  I painted these quickly and I am not happy with my drawing, but just wanted to set them up and play with the short time I had.  I am really looking forward to pulling out more blocks and colors and working with different compositions, light, edges, etc.  The possibilities are endless and I am very excited about it!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!!!

  7. Sounds very interesting Linda, I think value is one of the most challenging things about painting. I use a red transparent window to see value and that helps. Keep us posted on your progress.

  8. Your paintings are wonderful, and I especially love your mug shot portraits. I know you will make it to 100!
This is an interesting system. I have some blocks that I painted at one time to put in the sun to paint, who knew there was a kit already out there? I went to the lumber yard and had them cut the blocks, then I painted each one with different colors of acrylic. I'll be watching to see what all you're doing with these blocks.
You are an inspiration, always stretching yourself!
