TEXAS BOOTS AT THE MET

8x10 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

While in New York City I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I took many photographs outside the Met and inside the Met. This young woman was wearing cowgirl boots and, of course, my thoughts turned to Texas. I finished this painting late this afternoon and there are some touch ups that need to be done, however, I am pleased with it and it is a nice reminder of a great visit.

This photograph will be added to Some Texas Artists Like to Paint in the anything Texas category. Please visit this blog for some great art!

  1. Funny...
I've got a painting on the easel of people sitting on the steps in front of the Met.

I really like yours though... Those boots really do it!!

  2. Hi Linda,

Love this little painting. The girl has character, (maybe it's the boots) she looks like she'd have a story, dosn't she?

Thanks so much for your kind words about little Purdy. I know you love animals too so you know how they become part of the family.

    Talk soon

  4. I was at the DFW airport yesterday, looking for someone with cowboy boots on, trying to find a real cowboy to show my granddaughter. Not one in sight! Love the painting, Linda and I appreciate all the comments you have left for me.

  11. I love her expression with the strong jaw and slight pout, topped off by the shades. She's a girl that would definitely wear cowboy boots with a sundress. I like how the boots are the only thing that is brown.

  14. This is fab Linda. I love how you have created such a mood to her expression with very few brushstrokes. And the orangey/brown boots look great with all of the blues.
