TYING HER SHOE

8x10 Oil on Gessobord

Wet Canvas provided the reference photo for this painting. I've wanted to paint a ballerina for some time and finally took the leap. I used a complementary color scheme and will submit this to this week's DPW challenge. Capturing the light coming from behind her was also a consideration that I wanted to portray. This was another painting that was fun to do.

  10. What do I love the most about this? I love how you controlled the viewer's eyes with the shapes on the ballerina. The colors are gentle, and the brushwork on the figure - particularly the tutu - just WOW. I can tell you loved doing this!
