FACE No. 70

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

This was painted on a red acrylic ground.  You can see some of the red peeking through in places.  I also tried to use as few brushstrokes as possible, which is not an easy exercise.  It is so easy to overwork a painting.  I'm pleased with the result.
An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.

  1. You are really working your way through the mugshots. I like how the red shows through in places.

  2. I love the major big shapes and the red is nice!

  3. Yes, really like the red peeking through! Well done on the minimal use of brushstrokes!!!

  4. Your faces get better and better. I really like the red showing through. And also the value and temperature changes. Very cool!

  5. great job linda! love the quote as well.

  6. The underpainting on his nose and forehead are great, love your placement of the head on the panel and that quote is one I should tape to my easel for sure!
