PINK

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

I have not been productive at the easel this past week. I can't even remember how many times I took a rag and wiped out a support and those that I didn't wipe out are now in the trash pile. I would like to say I learned something. I suppose I did reinforce my feelings for painting, because I would have surely given up entirely if I didn't love it so much!

The challenge for this month's SOME TEXAS ARTISTS LIKE TO PAINT is pink. I found this little pink take out box and finally I was able to paint something and it remained on the canvas. :-) Because the package is all one color it was a good exercise for values, which I always seem to need.

Next Monday Carol Marine's workshop in Jacksonville, Florida begins. I am very excited about attending again! Is there anyone out there who also will be going? If so, I would love to hear from you.

  2. good handling of values and a difficult task with a single colour as you said but then when have we ever tried to do something that is easy? trashing paintings has also been a thriving past time in my art recently;) looking forward to hearing about your discoveries at Carol's workshop.

  4. I can sympathize with you because I just went through a period like that and it is tough! I am not entirely out of it.
I know a woman from my home town that is going there I will give her your blog and maybe the two of you can get together.

  6. Linda, I love the pink take out box! I wish I had a whole stack of them. No I don't, because then Id spend hours baking goodies to put in them and hours giving them away. These are the type of distractions I battle. But thanks for painting such a cute object. It makes me smile.

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for the encouraging words you have spoken to me over the past weeks. The have deen affirming and directional for me.

I do feel like I'm coming out of one of those slumps. It's been a long dry spell. So here is my little prayer for you, Linda. May God refresh the artist in you. May you be inspired and invigorated to capture the beauty around you onto canvas.Paint what brings you joy....what makes your heart skip!

    Big hug, Linda!

  10. Very nice job on the values. I often feel I should have wiped out, but instead, I hammer the painting to death. Better to wipe out.
