"CRITIQUE ME" CHALLENGE

Before

After

I submitted this painting to "Critique Me Challenge'' at the Daily Paintworks Challenge site. I received some good suggestions and did what I could to put those suggestions in my painting. The overall critique revolved around values so I darkened the shadow and lightened the light. I also elongated her right shoulder. Values continue to be a challenge for me, so this was a good experience for me. Carol Marine always comes up with great learning tools ...... so again, thank you, Carol! And thank you to all those who took the time to critique!

  2. I think this works, Linda! There really is more of a feeling of light. I thought it was lovely before, but I think these changes give more of the effect of light that you were after. You were really brave to ask for critiques. I'm s-s-s-scared!

  3. It does have more punch and drama now . . . It really is a terrific idea of Carol's for a challenge. I should do it, too . . .

  4. I thought the 'before' was so nice.. but before I read what you did I squinted at both, and... yup, the values read so much better in the 'after'. I'm so proud of you that you put something up on the critique challenge - it takes guts, girl! and you have a lovely painting, even more so than before!

  5. Wonderful use of the new DPW critique and just so good to learn those little touches. I liked the before but can see where the small changes took it up a notch and helped it be more dynamic. Lovely painting, great job!

  6. Hi Linda, I've been out of blogland lately, and am trying to catch up on things. Nice to see what you're up to. Your ballerina looks lovely! And what a great idea to get a critique. (I missed that, too!) Good for you!
