6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
It's been a while since I've posted any paintings. I've painted quite a few, but I didn't want to post them because I was on a mission to get better at painting faces - specifically mugshots. Karin Jurick's series was excellent and I learned so much just by looking at her work and reading her commentary. I have a few that I feel comfortable posting now and I plan to continue this series. I find it so interesting that everyone has the same parts, but each person looks so different. Amazing! Karin has completed 104 paintings and each one is unique and beautiful. I'm not committing to a number, but I am loving doing this. So here is the first of what I hope to be many!
You did a great job on this face especially the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I've toyed with the idea of painting mugs shots but after 26 years of looking at them I think I've had my fill. I'm looking forward to seeing this awesome project unfold. You're off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteLike how this is dropped. Can't wait to see all of them. Check out this series: http://natalieitaliano.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteThis guy is creepy, for sure!
ReplyDeletePam, I checked out Natalie's blog and her series is awesome! What a great idea to paint American teenagers and have quotes from them. I'm going to spend some time tomorrow and look at her blog more closely.
Sheila, I'll bet you have seen your fair share of mugshots!! You could probably paint a few in your sleep!
Thank you all for your comments!! :-)
