RESIGNATION and SADNESS

12x4 Oil on Panel
This was painted for the Daily Paintworks Challenge suggested by Jo MacKenzie.  Her challenge was to paint an emotion.  This young man appeared to be sad and resigned to the fact that he was arrested.  Thanks, Jo!  This was a good challenge.

  1. Nice job Linda. He does show his regret. This is one of my favorite "mug" shots.

  2. yes, you captured the resignation..(I often feel badly for the people in your "mugshots"...you do a consistently great job of clearly showing their expression).

  3. I love this one and it does show much emotion. the way it is on the canvas it almost looks like he is looking between the bars of the cell he is in and looking forlornly at freedom. Great job!

  4. At the first glance, I thought he was peering, through a narrow window, and his expression is peculiar.just fine observation, Linda!

  5. Using that format almost suggests he's looking through bars! Brilliant. Is it resignation or smugness?
