6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
I bought a beautiful bouquet of red Gerbera daisies last week from Central Market and I had to paint them. Such vivid red just made me smile! I did a little research and discovered that Gerbera daisies are the 5th most popular flower in the world. They rank behind the rose, carnation, chrysanthemum and tulip. I understand why these flowers are so popular with all their colors and the cut flower lasts quite some time. These daisies symbolize innocence, purity, cheerfullness and are the classic symbol of beauty. If you are interested in learning more about this flower click here.
Love the colors in this and Gerbera's are one of my favorites as well!
ReplyDeleteAmazing painting not at familiar with these flowers but will now hit the link and learn more thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors... I think flowers are terrifically hard to paint and you've done a great job!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marian...flowers are so difficult! And you've got a nice sense of mass here...for me the biggest part of getting them to work!
ReplyDeleteThese are so nice Linda, flowers are hard. I love how the one on the left reads with the dark behind it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was betweeen system assignments I applied for a job in a greenhouse where they raised Gerberas. What a wonderful sea of colour, every colour imaginable was there. Unfortunately was offered another computer system contract the next day....would so have loved to work in such a colourful environment.
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the red of the Gerbera brilliantly. Love it.
Nice color and composition with the off center centers...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful red daisies, Linda! So fresh and vibrant!
ReplyDeleteLinda, This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the vibrant red, yet it works with the rest of the painting because of your beautiful edges. Nicely done!
