I have been taking care of grandchildren, hence the lack of posting the last few days. The next group arrived today so there will be few, if any, posts this week.
I had a few hours today to paint so I decided to try an artichoke. The first painting was a wipe out. I was determined to get something down so I started over and I am pleased with this one. It's the first time I've painted an artichoke. It's not an easy subject, but it was definitely fun.
This is very nice Linda. I love the subtle shadings on the leaves. You did a very nice job of capturing all the values.
ReplyDeleteI havent seen this in reality Linda, but you have done a great job as usual, quite a rare subject to paint.
ReplyDeletePainting or grand children get your priorities right and it seems you have well and trully enjoy being with them.
ReplyDeleteThis is so well done! Enjoy the grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteI may have to try an artichoke, you have inspired me...great job, Linda!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done... Love the subtle colors in the leaves.
ReplyDeleteLinda, Great composition and fine use of complimentary paintings. Hope to see you in October!
ReplyDeleteSuper work Linda on such a difficult subject. Your technique really emulates the 'feel' of the object. Love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the value changes. Nice colors, too.
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful. It is hard to believe you have only been at it for a few years! You have certainly made a name for your self.
ReplyDeleteLove the artichoke.....sometimes you have to go thru some wipers before you get a keeper. This painting is a keeper for sure!
ReplyDeleteyeah, this is super work, the modeling is just right and you always have a great eye for color...nice
ReplyDeleteLinda, You did a beautiful job with the shading. Nice painting.
ReplyDeleteVery nice colors in this one and I like the grays in the last one.
ReplyDeleteI love close up views! The compliments really make this sparkle. Beautiful blog!
ReplyDeleteYou're right Linda. Artichokes are a more difficult subject as well as a more difficult veggie to cook and consume, but well worth the trouble. Have fun with your grandbabies.
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring your artichoke and finally had a few minutes to comment. How brave you are and you did such a nice job. Very very nice!
ReplyDeleteLove that green and red! Artichokes can be so intimidating to paint but you've done such a beautiful job here!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully painted Linda.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I really like al of the different colors I see, the warms and cools. I have never painted an artichoke, it looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteHi, Linda! What a beautiful artichoke!!! Great colors, comp. and scale.
ReplyDeleteThanks for tracking me down and giving me 'the heads up' on my Pass the Salt post! I really appreciate it!
Love those grandchildren! They'll never forget you...I know I certainly haven't forgotten mine. I can't wait to see them again someday. My little 4 1/2 yr. old grandaughter Carter, spent a week together recently...it's a toss up as to who had more fun!
Again, thanks!
Big hug!
Roxanne
This is beautiful. I never would have thought to paint an artichoke but what a beautiful subject it made under your talented brush. Enjoy the time with you family!

Great composition, Linda. I love the touches of purple in the leaves too, good stuff!
ReplyDeleteNo, not an easy subject! But the subtle shifts of color in the leaves are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour great skills of observation are evident on this one, Linda. Nice job on the detailed textures... I especially like those neutral grays and the reddish background.
ReplyDeleteYour work is wonderful. I love your style. Your ability to paint the ordinary in an extraordinary way. Well done. All the best to you.
