FOG

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

A few weeks ago Linda Reedy, Jill Randall and I drove out to the country early one foggy morning to paint.  I love the fog.  It creates a very different atmosphere to which I feel a connection.  I managed to get one small painting of this windmill completed before the sun rose higher and burned off the fog.  I did get a few photographs for references in the future.  The area in which we painted was very rural with a few farms and down the road a bit a winery.  It's a lovely place to bring paints and easels for plein air.

ENJOY YOUR WEEK-END!

REGULA "BABYFACE" SCHEIFELE

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

"The second member of the Hilton Head Gang is Regula 'Babyface' Scheifele. Don't let her youthful appearance fool you..... she is as devious as the rest of the gang when it comes to shooting covertly and then leaving the scene of the crime.

After terrorizing the island shooting her way through beaches and galleries, she escaped to the back roads of North Carolina. She was last seen boarding a plane to Europe... her current whereabouts unknown."
Maria Hock, fellow member of the HHG

WALKING AND TALKING

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

This man was on his cell phone, absorbed in an intense conversation.  I loved his clothes, especially his hat.  It was a bright day and everything caught the light.  So I schlepped after him in my best covert way, which wasn't easy with my camera hung over a bright teal jacket and cap on my head.  Game on!  I got several good photos and chose the easiest to paint (I am unbelievably rusty! ...... OK I'm a wimp)  I hope to re-visit these photos and paint him again.  Little did he know that he was such an interesting subject!

ARTICHOKE

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

I have been taking care of grandchildren, hence the lack of posting the last few days. The next group arrived today so there will be few, if any, posts this week.

I had a few hours today to paint so I decided to try an artichoke. The first painting was a wipe out. I was determined to get something down so I started over and I am pleased with this one. It's the first time I've painted an artichoke. It's not an easy subject, but it was definitely fun.

HONG KONG

This is another submission to Bill Guffy's Virtual Paintout. It is unclear where in Hong Kong this is located. These small houses were located at the end of a street - or ally. The abstract quality attacted me.

FOOTLOOSE

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

This will be a donation to The Humane Society of Port Jervis in Port Jervis, NY. I found out about this project through Sheila Tajima's blog From Forensic to Fine Art and decided to take part in it. There were many cute cats and dogs and this one rabbit so I decided to paint her. Her name is Footloose. As soon as the paint dries and it is framed it will be put in the mail. I hope she has found a good home!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
