This is my second submission to Virtual Paintout. I have explored Prince Edward Island through Google Street View and although the pictures are not the best, I could still see how beautiful it is. Virtual Paintout is a challenge I look forward to each month. With this scene I simplified greatly to focus on shapes and color. I have a tendency to want to put every detail in my painting so that is a challenge for me, too. I learn more and more each time I paint. I love it!
This is a really wonderful piece Linda...I love the mood you set with the color...well done!
ReplyDeleteI love the mood and atmosphere in this painting.
ReplyDeleteIn totality, it is a fabulous mood that is coming out of this one Linda, nice hues and subtle shadows
ReplyDeleteThis work perfectly evokes the 'essence' of Prince Edward Island - nice and mysterious as well!
ReplyDeleteI like the austere spare quality--looks isolated in a good way.
ReplyDeleteThis looks other-worldly. I like the soft colors.
ReplyDeleteNice moody piece with a wonderful composition. Very successful, Linda.
ReplyDeleteI think this is wonderfully simple, though it's not really, is it? But by leaving out some details, the essence of this building is left. I like your color scheme too.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to paint more make-up?
Joan
Linda, I just clicked on your blog to thank you for the wonderfully generous comments you've left me and instantly FELL IN LOVE with this and simply HAD to have it. It's just perfect! I love absolutely EVERYTHING about it, I can't wait to see it in person. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteWow, focusing on shapes and color is for sure working for you here, Linda. This painting has lovely color harmony and striking shapes and composition. Really nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I love this piece. So stylistic in approach and seemingly effortless. I love the subtle variation on tone in the foreground.

Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty! I have been to P.E.I. many times, and I wonder where this house is. I like the stark simplicity of the painting. Great work.
Take care,
Barbara
I love the colors you used, and the mastery of the composition! It is very difficult to preserve, or rather to obtain simplicity like you have done. Simply beautiful! Kisses!
