6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
I painted this from a photograph I took while visiting Philadelphia last summer. I simplified, which makes a better painting, but also on such a small format it needed simplification. I enjoyed painting this. It's so interesting that a photograph can trigger memories, but painting from photographs is even more amazing. I almost felt like I was on the street in Philadelphia with my camera. The light at the end of the alley attracted me and there were interesting shadows.
Phil and I are going to the Texas State Fair tomorrow. We're meeting three of our grandchildren and their parents and really looking forward to a beautiful day full of laughs and, of course, fried ...... something!! It's Texas/OU game tomorrow, too. YIKES!
HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!
Really nice light, Linda. Very interesting composition. And I love the muted tones.
ReplyDeleteAnd have fun with the grandchildren!
wonderful Lina, this reminds me of Kim English, great light and super golden color.
ReplyDeletea good looking alley--I wouldn't mind taking a stroll there
ReplyDeleteNicely done. The color is restful and beautiful. Yes, I agree with Mary...it does remind me of Kim English...his works.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! This is the kind of scene I always want to photograph but can't do justice to. Your painting has captured the exact light effects I would have wanted with my camera.
ReplyDeleteI really love the feel of this one - your capture of the light is amazing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! Saw it on the International blog site..totally drew my eye..stood out amongst the others
ReplyDeleteLinda, this is fantastic! The harmony of colors and shapes makes the composition perfect, and extremely charming. I feel like projected in this Philadelphia's street, because simplyfing, as you said you did, you made perspective and light more meaningful. Absolutely worthy of applause! Brava!
ReplyDeleteThis one caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteI like the simple design and color in this one. Good Job!
