This was a lot of fun to paint. I did a cadmium red underpainting and you can see bits and pieces of that underpainting peeking through. I tried to put down one stroke and leave it (not always successful!) and keep it loose. In addition I used a palette knife for the background. I love painting these mug shots. Each one is a learning experience.
