FIESTA CUP and SAUCER

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
To bid on this painting click HERE.
Bidding begins at $10.00.
I painted this on a red acrylic ground, which I have done before and enjoy it.  I like the bits and pieces of the red peeking through.  This cup and saucer was found at a flea market and it is original Fiesta Ware and therefor can not be used for drinking as it contains lead.  So it is perfect for a still life!

VINCE "THE ORGANIZER" FAZIO

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

"Vince “ The Organizer” is an adjunct member of the notorious Hilton Head Gang.  He has tried to disassociate himself from the group but once a Hilton Head Gang member...always a Hilton Head Gang member.  It is like the Hotel California...you can check in any time you want...but you can never leave...hahahahahahahahaha... "

Thank you, Maria!!

This is the last of our gang.  All are now painted.  I wanted to try the Zorn palette and I thought this would be a good time to give it a go.  If you are not familiar with Anders Zorn, he was one of the premier portrait painters of his day.  His work is amazing!  To see a color chart of Zorn's limited palette take a look at Aaron Westerberg's website.  Zorn's palette consisted of Cad Red, Yellow Ochre, Titanium White, and Ivory Black.  With only these four paints a beautiful array of colors can be created.

This is another painting for the DPW Challenge.  I painted this from Carol Carmichael's photograph posted on the challenge page.  I cropped it and painted loosely.  It was an enjoyable painting!
WOW!
Today is Friday the 13th.  YIKES!
It is bad luck to fall out of a thirteenth story window on Friday

RELAXED

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

This young man was so relaxed talking on his cell phone as people passed by.  I had to take a photograph of him.  I am so happy that I had this reference photo for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge of "Lying Down."  Carol Carmichael suggested this challenge.  Thanks,  Carol!

HITCHCOCK CHARACTER 2

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Click HERE to bid on this painting.
This is the same Alfred Hitchcock character as painted in my previous post.  I wanted to add color and I painted on a smaller board with a red underpainting and a slightly different composition.  Again, this was so enjoyable to paint!

HITCHCOCK CHARACTER

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Click HERE to bid on this painting.
When I was a kid one of my favorite tv shows was "Alfred Hitchcock."  These old episodes are still being shown and I like to catch one once in a while.  While watching one of Hitchcock's stories, I decided that it would be fun to paint a character.  This man's hat attracted me so he was the one!  The painting evolved into a value study and was not only fun to paint, but another learning experience.

MARIA "THE ENFORCER" HOCK

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
Maria “The Enforcer” Hock is perhaps the most dangerous member of the Hilton Head gang.   She is an instigator...a rabble rouser...aprovocateur.  She lures you into her circle of friends with promises of camaraderie, challenges, and critiques.  She has three cameras and endless battery power.  She is also deadly with her prose...if she can’t get a likeness...then it is very likely you will be the subject of a story...or BOTH!  Her husband is responsible for her nickname...
You can find out more information on her blog mariahock.blogspot.com

This is the last  :-(  of our Hilton Head Gang mug shots.  Maria took all the photographs from which we painted and wrote about each person.  THANK YOU, MARIA!  This project was a lot of fun and helped to provide the glue that is our group.  We are going to continue with different challenges and projects, so keep an open eye for the next "thing!"

ALLYSON "SUNDANCE" SCHILB

4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

Allyson “Sundance” Schilb does most of her shooting in the evening.  She, too, is one of the more quiet members of the Hilton Head Gang.  We do know that she rides with a biker gang.  She rode all over the island...There were tales of drive by shootings.  When other gang members were strolling beaches, sidewalks and tourist sites, Sundance was laying low...riding quietly and shooting unsuspecting victims.  We also know is she is no less proficient than any of the other members...she is SLR ready and will shoot at will.

FACE No. 60

Click HERE to bid on this painting.
I used a red acrylic ground for this painting and I like the effect it adds with touches of red peeking through.  I had such a good time painting him!  With 60 mug shots now under my belt    I still enjoy painting these faces.
