4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

"Vince “ The Organizer” is an adjunct member of the notorious Hilton Head Gang.  He has tried to disassociate himself from the group but once a Hilton Head Gang member...always a Hilton Head Gang member.  It is like the Hotel can check in any time you want...but you can never leave...hahahahahahahahaha... Thank you, Maria!!

This is the last of our gang.  All are now painted.  I wanted to try the Zorn palette and I thought this would be a good time to give it a go.  If you are not familiar with Anders Zorn, he was one of the premier portrait painters of his day.  His work is amazing!  To see a color chart of Zorn's limited palette take a look at Aaron Westerberg's website.  Zorn's palette consisted of Cad Red, Yellow Ochre, Titanium White, and Ivory Black.  With only these four paints a beautiful array of colors can be created.

  1. Great job...again! You are really on a roll! I haven't tried the Zorn palette yet but would like to. Another challenge on my list!

  2. Once again, super personality and that intensity that so many of your wonderful portraits have! p.s.- I went to buy your brush painting of a few weeks ago and it was sold:( still kicking myself!

  3. Congratulations on painting your entire "gang". I have enjoyed meeting them all through your paintings. Zorn is fantastic. You remind me that I should return to that palette!

  4. Another good one Linda! Great job with a limited palette!

  5. You really captured the look in Vince's eyes! Great job, Linda! Thanks for the tip on Anders Zorn. I will check him out.

  6. J'ai vraiment l'impression qu'il me contemple... belle capture.
    Gros bisous

  7. There he is! You are growing so much in your portraiture skills!

  8. I'm learning so much from our HHG. Fantastic and from such a limited palette.

Thank you for taking the time to view my blog and leaving a comment! I read and appreciate each and every one!!
