This was painted on a red acrylic ground. You can see some of the red peeking through in places. I also tried to use as few brushstrokes as possible, which is not an easy exercise. It is so easy to overwork a painting. I'm pleased with the result.

ReplyDeleteThe underpainting on his nose and forehead are great, love your placement of the head on the panel and that quote is one I should tape to my easel for sure!
