This painting was done from a photograph of a young man reading in a hotel lobby. He looked very comfortable and was totally engrossed in his book. Thankfully, my camera did not break his concentration. I decided to concentrate just on the shapes in the painting with as little detail as possible. I am submitting to this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge.
Wonderful! I love the deep color and the body is very relaxed and truthful.
ReplyDeleteLove love this one Linda!. Great figure and I like how you treated the face too.
ReplyDeleteFabulous observation of shapes and light. Simplification really working here Linda!
ReplyDeleteThis is very good, Linda. I love the warm shadows and cool highlights in the chair. Your drawing is good, too. That casual crossed leg is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe simplicity in this painting is its strength ! Love it, as well as the complimentary of orange and blue!
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of it and bold colors. It is great...some of your best work!
ReplyDeleteI like the quietness, that under-statedness. It's a bit Diebenkorn somehow. Good stuff Linda!
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteI really like this. You did a great job of seeing the large and small shapes of color.
I like the way you concentrated on shapes. You've got a read on his body position.
