THE GREAT ESCAPE

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

I tried to use as few brush strokes as possible on this painting, however I certainly did not accomplish what I set out to do. I messed with it too much and I have no excuse for it. However, I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. I may try peas again as it was fun and when the light hits the pods and peas there are many different greens.

  1. This is delightful! Fresh peas are always a welcome sight. Lovely job on the translucency of the shell and the shadow!

  2. you know, I keep forgetting to do that "with the least strokes" thing. I KNOW it would be a great exercise. You did very well with this--what good shapes and greens!

  4. This is spectacular! You are much braver than I am...I couldn't bring myself to paint an opened pod...round..they are wonderfully round...value work is great!

  6. lovely composition and handling of greens. i love what you have decided to experiment with: it is something i struggle with. Have you seen Michael Naple's brushwork?

  10. I think they turned out great. It's not an easy task using as few brushstrokes as possible to say what you want to say.
