I'm finding it easier to paint on these small panels. It's been tough, though. I've wiped out many a mug shot. But, hey it's always a learning experience, even with wipe outs. So no complaints.
I would say this is one of your best- the nose and mouth are awesome! Look at the sculpting....Giiiirl- you got it going with these. Wipe, paint, keep!! Yay!
Beautiful colour tones and hues Linda. I love how you repeated the blue from his shirt into his face. Very effective. He has very intense dramatic eyes. They draw you right it.
Terrific portrait with wonderful expressive lighting! You're right - each one seems to get a little easier. Painting is like exercise in a way isn't it? At first sit-ups nearly kill you but get easier as your muscles get toned. I'm finding the more of these we do - the faster it goes.
I like the cool colors in his face. Looks like viridian and white...it's surprising how that helps to show the form. I continue to find these portraits moving...because the people in jails are never "honored" (of course)...but they are people like everyone. It is a strong message.
This painting has a great deal of character as well as being beautifully painted. I like that you have handled the paint in a thinner consistency... (something that I am working on) nicely done.
Great job on this one. He looks intimidating! Those eyes!

ReplyDeleteThis is great Linda. You really nailed it. I love how the blue in the eyes and collar pop.

ReplyDeleteYou really nailed this one. It looks very fresh, like you put all the paint on in just the right place the first time. Congratulations
