4x4 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
This woman caught my attention among the many mug shots. I'm not clear as to the reason, but I think it may have been her eyes. As always, I didn't want to know of what she was accused. She just looked resigned to what was happening. Perhaps this had happened to her previously. I enjoyed working on this painting. I'm getting more accustomed to painting on this very small format. I think 4x4 lends itself to these portraits.
Love this...is there an echo??? you really nailed her look...her thoughts. Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteWell done! I like the combination of cool lavenders and warm oranges in the skin.
ReplyDeleteI think she is so interesting. She would have been fun to paint. Her eyes are great, and I like her mouth too. So simple, but perfect. Love it!
ReplyDeleteUn magnifique travail... Une belle harmonie de couleur. Un regard si triste et asservi... un beau portrait.
ReplyDeleteGros bisous et joyeuses fêtes.
Her eyes do have an Old Soul feel to them. Gorgeous lavendars and that warm orangey in her right cheek- brillant. Girl, this is small and you do an amazing job with these portraits!
ReplyDeleteI can't get over that you get so much information in such a small format. I imagine your subject is a little "world weary", but you painted her as having grace instead of fatigue.
ReplyDeleteGreat expression. You captured her hopelessness. Is that a word?
ReplyDeleteI can see why you were compelled to paint this person - good material there and good job on the portrait. Her expression and those purple/blue on her shadow side and under her eye convey fatigue and depression.
ReplyDeleteYes,you've captured quiet and resigned perfectly. Also, something wistful there-nice job Linda, Happy 2012!
ReplyDeleteI can't fathom painting something so good on such a TINY panel
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the portraits.
ReplyDeleteLOVING your mug shots, Linda. You captured that forlorn and "resigned" feeling here so well!! Happy 2012!!
