6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord
I've seen many beautiful paintings of cherries these last couple of weeks. They have been an inspiration (thanks to all the cherry painters!) so I decided to try my hand at painting this fruit, too. This little cherry shows deep, rich reds. Really gorgeous colors ..... oh, and they taste good, too! :-)
On another note, I ordered some frames from King of Frames and they arrived yesterday. If you need frames I recommend this site - King of Frames. Today they are offering a fantastic special with Leslie Saeta and Dreama Tolle Perry. I just ordered my "special" and can't wait to receive it!!
It's Friday! Have a great week-end!!
Hey Linda, love this! The title kinda threw me but I love it! It made me blink to see if I was missing the lemon or something! I love cherries and bought some yesterday to paint so hopefully I will have some cherry paintings on my blog soon! Thanks for your kind comments and encouragement on my new blog!
ReplyDeleteReally great piece. I love cherries too. Thanks also for the framer tip.
ReplyDeleteNicely painted! I love the delicate stem against the field of gray; it feels poetic, calligraphic...something difficult to put words to. No wonder it's visual! :)
ReplyDeleteAren't you the clever one... with the title of "One"! I like your version of the cherry; rich and dark against the neutral, grey background. I like it! Yes, I love King of Frames also.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful little painting. Will we see 2 cherries? Then 3? I hope so! You did a wonderful job. Thank you for the info about the frames . . . . always in search of good frames.

Linda,
ReplyDeleteOne is onederful! Really like the simplicity! You did a great job with the shadow and love the little reflected light to the right- so smart!
This is such a very nice (good!) sensitive painting! Love its simplicity and the way you handled the grays, deep color and volume on the cherry, shadows, edges . . . I wish I'd done it!!!!
ReplyDeletea really perfect cherry...the shadow is also devine
ReplyDeleteThe dark cherry against the grays is very elegant. Nice!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mix of colors, Linda... your variations on whites are always so charming!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous little cherry painting. It is a challenge to handle that much space with a small image and you did it!! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteLike Lorraine, I too love the simplicity of this piece. And btw, thanks for the heads-up on the kingofframes site as well.
